Flying above
Soft delicate wings beat
To the tune of a heart
Gently floating by broken windows
A slight breeze to forgotten mirrors
Higher the wings rise
A flash and twirl of colors
Shimmering as the dust falls below
Through the branches of a wilted tree
Forever looking back to what it's lost
Voices do not penetrate the air around
No one to shriek their sorrows
Only the beating of two hearts intertwined
A twitch, a blink
Shivering against the frostbitten air
Ripped and ragged
A reflection shines through
Showing the doll laying on the floor
A sad spirit touched, wings fallen away
Vulnerable, helpless, hopeless
A whisper sits on her arm
A glimmer of joy
That only comes from a butterfly
Soft delicate wings beat
To the tune of a heart
Gently floating by broken windows
A slight breeze to forgotten mirrors
Higher the wings rise
A flash and twirl of colors
Shimmering as the dust falls below
Through the branches of a wilted tree
Forever looking back to what it's lost
Voices do not penetrate the air around
No one to shriek their sorrows
Only the beating of two hearts intertwined
A twitch, a blink
Shivering against the frostbitten air
Ripped and ragged
A reflection shines through
Showing the doll laying on the floor
A sad spirit touched, wings fallen away
Vulnerable, helpless, hopeless
A whisper sits on her arm
A glimmer of joy
That only comes from a butterfly
I was browsing through DA and I found this picture:
Set me free.... Before I burst
and I read the artist's comments and it inspired me to make this poem.
There's a reference in it to my last poem, The Mirror. This is, by far, my favorite poem. Thank you AnarchyWolfKira.
