Screams filled the air as the tower went up in smoke. People gathered around the burning steel building, pointing and shouting. People ran out of the steel monster, trying to escape the reckage. A crash was barely heard as something was thrown out a window hundreds of feet up. The screams turned louder as they realized it was a man. Hurtling down, the man spread out his body; a futile attempt to save his life. Weeping spread through the area, anguish was shrieked to the sky. Suddenly, the world seemed to be silenced.
The screams began again as a second plane crashed into the other tower. Right after, the first tower creaked and collapsed upon its burned out skeleton. Dust blocked out the sun and people ran in all directions, scattering like cockroaches. Inside the other tower, a woman shrieked as the ceiling cracked above her. She fell to the floor as it dropped. She looked up, surprised she hadn't been crushed. Standing above her, a man pushed the ceiling away. "Ma'am! Are you okay?" His voice coughed out. She nodded and stood up, trembling.
"How are we going to get out? We're not getting out are we? My kids! My kids! They're.... they're..." She collapsed to the floor, weeping. The man turned back to her, green and blue eyes staring sympathy at her. What am I going to do with her? He sighed, holding up his hand. Lets hope this works... I'm nearing my limit. A blue glow surrounded his hand. The woman looked up at him, confused at what was happening. Suddenly, she passed out. The other clenched his hand, making the woman before him disappear.
He fell to his knees, his hand to his head. "I have to... Get out... of here." He stood up, glancing around him. There. He saw a window cracked and broken. He gritted his teeth, feeling the fire around him licking at his body. He began running to the window, faster and faster. Nearly there, he jumped, curled into a ball, and crashed through the deadly window. Glass bit at his skin, slashing it until it bled. As he gained speed, the building behind him chased him down. Collapsing like its twin, the two of them raced each other to the ground. Soon a body crashed against the sidewalk... Through the sidewalk...

He sat straight up, holding a hand to his head. "Almost..." He stood up, swaying from the effects of his transportation. He groaned, looking around. The nightmarish scene was replaced by the familiar wilted landscape before him. He glanced up to the night sky, watching stars glitter and shine. He scanned the landscape before him, his eyes wandering to his arms. He saw half-healed burns and scars from his jump out the window. He sighed, sitting down. That's the power of the Wasteland.  Why do I keep looking for wounds that have already healed?
This question kept popping into his mind, but the answer never revealed itself. "Here's my answer," He began talking to himself, something that had become usual in the past.... how many human years would it be? "More of a question, than an answer. Why is my name Abaddon? When did I start calling myself that?" He chuckled to himself; he never found the answer to that either. Abaddon had always been, same as the Wasteland.
"Computer." A blue glow surrounded his hand as he spoke. A screen apeared, floating in midair. He wanted to remind himself of the Wasteland's story once more. A question mark appeared on the transparent screen. "The Wasteland's creation, please." Words appeared on the screen, describing the familiar story. Without warning, the wilted desert disappeared and a street materialized beneath him. "Again?!" He rose, trying to figure out where he was.
"He's gone!" Abaddon snapped his head behind him, startled by the voice. He walked closer to the crying and saw a little girl with blonde hair. He hid himself, wondering who had left her. "My cat's gone!" He smiled. Was that all? He brought up the computer again, asking it to show him her cat. He cringed when he saw where it was. Crap... It got run over. He turned back to the girl, still hidden. She's like, what, five years old? You can't just go up to a five year-old and tell them their cat just got run over! But maybe... He grinned, analyzing the cat. A greenish glow devoured his hand, his arm, and then his entire body. From the bushes, a jet black tom limped out. Yes, Abaddon could turn himself into almost any living thing possible. He meowed in the cutest way ever and mentally kicked himself. I can't believe how cute I look! This better be worth it.
The cat was suddenly pulled out of his thoughts as the girl picked him up happily. "Dino! You came back!" He blinked, trying to register that she had named her cat Dino.
He meowed again, smiling somewhat embarressed.
Well, here it is finally. Chapter 1 of the Wasteland. I like my chapters to be long so this might get edited a couple more times or something. Hope you enjoy it!
